As always, it’s been difficult to select the recipients from the tens of thousands of applications we receive. There are so many deserving students, but only a limited amount of money to be given out.

Over the past couple of weeks, the Beans for Books Board of Directors has been hard at work reading the latest round of textbook grant applications. As we delved into the essays, we were introduced to applicants from all over the nation, each with a story to tell. At times we laughed, we cried, and we once again gained valuable insight into the life of a twenty first century college student.
Do not despair if you were not selected as a finalist this time. Beans for Books continually works to raise funds for our textbook grants. But we cannot tackle the financial burden of college on our own; we need your support to continue to make the Beans for Books Textbooks Grant a reality. Also please note that a new grant opportunity will be coming up this summer for the Fall Semester of 2009!
Thanks to a generous donation of American Express Rewards points from a Beans For Books supporter, and our alliance with eBay Giving Works, we’ll be awarding another grant to a college student…and a happy traveler will be flying First-Class on Continental Airlines.
